Animal Control, Animal Shelter & Registration  Printer Friendly

There are many pet players of which Council is one. Council's determine the local laws for animal control within their municipality. In addition to providing information, your Council also provides animal control services, handles complaints about animals, picks up stray animals and processes pet registrations.

By law, all cats and dogs over the age of three months in Victoria must be registered and newly registered animals must be microchipped as of 1 May 2007.

Pet Registration
Belar Animal Shelter
Lost your animal or looking to adopt a pet? Take the trek to the Belar Animal Shelter. Located between Irymple and Red Cliffs on Fifteenth Street, Mildura, the shelter provides a humane environment for all lost animals.

The shelter re-houses hundreds of adorable animals each year to homes locally and outside Mildura through the Drought Dogs program. All animals come de-sexed and with appropriate vaccinations.

The shelter is open:

Weekdays - 8:30am to 10am then 2:30pm to 4pm
Saturdays - 8:30am to 9.30am
Sundays and Public Holidays - Closed

For more information, contact the shelter on 5024 7867.
