Alfresco Dining and Street Trader Policy Review
This project is in the second stage for its review, undertaking the issues and directions investigation and testing stage.
A flyer/fact sheet has been developed to outline the next stage of consultation and stimulate conversation around the issues and options coming out of the initial consultation period. Please see the background and supporting documents section below for more information.
A short survey follows that we encourage you to complete to give us your feedback as part of the consultation and the bottom of the page are links to the policies that are being reviewed. For this policy, alfresco dining is the use of the footpath for tables and chairs. Street trading is the use of the footpath for mobile food vans (ie Mallee Burger) or non-food stuff such as flower displays, clothes or books.

Mildura Rural City Council is reviewing our Alfresco Dining and Street Traders Policy as part of Council's normal cyclical policy review process and have engaged consultants Aurecon Group to assist. During the last three years, we have seen an increase in how lively our streets have become with outdoor dining and street trading. The policy review is required to ensure their currency and we are seeking feedback from the community, business owners, traders and other agencies to help improve these policies which will be implemented across the whole municipality, excluding the Mildura Riverfront area. It is anticipated that the newly reviewed and combined policy will be endorsed by Council in February 2018.
Business owners, traders and the general community are invited to attend workshops to share your experiences with alfresco dining and street trading in general to identify possible improvements across the municipality.
Business owners, traders and community members are invited to attend a public drop-in session for a one-on-one discussion and a community workshop to explore issues and options coming out of the previous survey and consultation.
