Choosing to become an Australian citizen demonstrates your personal loyalty and commitment to Australia and its people.
To become an Australian citizen, you must first apply for Australian citizenship through the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). Application forms and information for applying for Australian citizenship can be obtained from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
Attending a Citizenship Ceremony
The citizenship ceremonies are administered by the Administration Officer, Governance Unit. Once your application has been approved, DIBP will notify the Administration Officer - this can take up to three months from the date of your approval.
As soon as Council has been notified by the DIBP, you will be sent an invitation by mail that will contain all the information that you will need to know.
Council conducts citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the Australian Government bi-monthly, with a special ceremony on Australia Day each year.**
