Murray River International Music Festival | | 19-31 January A fine music festival presenting world class Australian and International musicians to audiences in unique locations along the Murray River including Mildura. Each day of the program provides for world class performances combined with master-classes, workshops, and school visits. The artists perform in a variety of venues ranging from riverside settings to riverboats and regional art venues. |
Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival | | 27 February-14 March The Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival is one of Australia’s leading regional arts festivals and has been recognised with Major Festival Status by Arts Victoria. The festival offers a rich and vibrant four week program of visual and performing arts, workshops, theatre, Big Screen outdoor cinema, opera, contemporary music, exhibitions, parades and comedy – all in a diverse range of venues that showcase the unique landscapes, natural beauty and rich heritage of the Mildura region. 27 February Mardi Gras Street Parade |
Victorian Urban Fire Brigade State Championships | | 6-8 March To foster camaraderie within the Fire Service. To hone fire fighting skills. To enforce discipline amongst competing brigades. Protecting life and property in the local community for 105 years. |
Murrayville and District Centenary Celebrations | | 2-5 April Murrayville and Districts Centenary Celebrations is an event to be staged over Easter celebrating our community heritage, providing an opportunity for past residents to return to see how we are now, marking 100 years of settlement in the Murrayville region. For current residents the event is aimed at building resilience in the community by promoting friendship and our shared inheritance, and experiences. |
Mildura Pacing Cup | | 6,8 & 10 April Victoria's most popular harness racing. It has a high profile and recognised country wide. It attracts the best horses, trainers and harness racing drivers to compete for approximately $250,000 over 3 nights. |
Mildura Racing Cup | | 22-23 May This is the big one! Mildura's own Cup Carnival. This is Mildura's chance to celebrate their own cup. The two days of exciting racing action is complemented by live entertainment, marquee options, fashions on the field and celebrity spotting. A fantastic opportunity to dress up and have a great day out with friends. In 2009 the horses raced for a share in over $250,000 worth of prize money with trainers coming from far and wide for their share. Fashions on the Field is the fastest growing non-racing event with over $3,000 in prizes on offer. Gone are the days when only the ladies enter with many dapper gentlemen entering and trying to match it with the girls. |
Mildura Eisteddfod | | 31 May-14 June (TBC) The Mildura Eisteddfod Society runs an event to foster the performing arts in the areas of Speech and Drama, Vocal, Instrumental, Pianoforte, Choirs and Dance. It is run for approximately 2 weeks (3 sessions per day) at the Mildura Arts Centre and is open to all. It attracts entrants from schools, private performing arts groups and individuals. The Society brings respected adjudicators to the venue to give professional feedback on performance. |
Mildura Writers' Festival | | 15-18 July Three days of words, food and wine on the Murray River featuring Australian and International writers. A Festival for writers and readers with an emphasis on place and conviviality. The Festival was founded by celebrity cook Stefano de Pieri and his wife Donato Carrazza in 1994 and each year the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal is presented, in honour of the first guest, to a consistently outstanding Australian writer. |
