Each year Mildura Rural City Council acknowledges local achievers for their outstanding contribution to our region through the Australia Day Awards. Provided by the National Australia Day Council, the awards celebrate Australian excellence in our community.

Nominations are invited for the following awards:
- Australia Day Citizen of the Year
- Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year
- Australia Day Community Event of the Year

A sub-committee of Councillors evaluates nominations and determines the ultimate winner for each category.  Each winner receives a certificate and a medallion, which is presented during Australia Day ceremonies.

Nominations generally open in September, with a local media campaign run from September until November, when nominations close.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 Awards. Should you wish to recognise a person's achievements, please print a copy of the nomination form, complete and submit with supporting documentation by post to:
