Mildura is an extraordinary mix of abundance and stunning vast spaces. Its climate, often described as Mediterranean, is perfect for all pastimes.

Get in the swing on a lush riverside golf course, drop a line, paddle a canoe, dine out in style, or take a front-row seat at one of the more than 300 Community, Regional, State, National and International Festivals and Events our Region holds each year.

Mildura is a key Event location in Australia, hosting a colourful and active year round Calendar of Events. In every month of the year you will find that there is a Festival or Celebration adding even more colour and life to the Region.


Dot Jenkinson Ladies Pairs Classic
7th-9th October
A Ladies only bowls tournament to promote an event for women of all nationalities and to encourage more participants from our municipality. We extend our hands in bowling friendship by making all participants and visitors feel very welcome and that they are extra special.

Merbein Community Rodeo
10th October
Rodeo entertainment, including bull rides, steer riding, saddle bronc and barrel racing. Entertainment at interval. A great night's entertainment. 6pm-10pm.

Mildura Sun Festival
11th October
The festival will attract local and national speakers with reputations in such diverse and relevant topics as renewable energy, water and energy conservation, biofuels, low energy construction, natural buidling techniques, emissions trading, organic gardening and permaculture.
There will also be local and national exhibitors in areas such as renewable energy, energy and water conservation product supplies, building and gardening supplies, and services. Food and entertainment will also be provided.

Mildura Gospel Music Festival
21st-25th October
The Mildura Gospel Music Festival is a six (3 day School program) day Festival, focussed on bringing a variety of professional contemporary Gospel music artists to the Sunraysia region, to perform in a community that prides itself on great food, fantastic weather and every opportunity for memorable family fun.


Mildura Rowing Club Centenary Celebrations
23rd-25th October
To celebrate the long history of the Mildura Rowing Club. To involve past and present members. Friday evening registration at the Rowing Club. Saturday registration, club room inspection and memorabilia, BBQ, club room function. Saturday night dinner and guest speakers. Sunday row pass, luncheon.

Mildura Jazz, Food and Wine Festival
30th October-2nd November
30th Birthday Celebrations
With its unique blend of wineries and rugged Mallee landscapes, Mildura is always an enticing destination, but it will be simply irresistible in November 2009 when the city comes alive with jazz in the streets, the restaurants & wineries, by the river and on the paddleboats.

Visitors & locals will savour the flavours of the world class local produce & wines on offer. The Mildura Jazz, Food & Wine Festival presents a wonderful combination of traditional, contemporary and swing jazz in our magnificent Mildura surrounds.

Events will be held in various locations including wineries, pubs, city heart and by the Murray River.

Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show
4th-7th November
The show aims to provide an alternative to the mainstream wine shows, a dedicated forum for alternative or emerging wine varieties and to encourage alternative, more cutting edge judging procedures.

Willowfest Australian Cricket Club Championships
26th-30th December
An annual cricket carnival attracting participants, families and spectators to Sunraysia for an entertaining week of cricket, functions and holiday activities. The carnival was reborn in 1998 as the Mildura Willowfest Australian Cricket Club Championships and this rebirth has injected a great deal of new interest and enthusiasm. The carnival draws teams/players from Victoria, NSW and South Australia providing a broad cross section of competitors.
