Mildura mayor Glenn Milne says Council is committed to supporting local community groups, organisations and clubs through its annual grants program.
“Last year we provided about half a million dollars in grant funding all up,” he said.
“That money was put to good use on a whole range of projects that help improve our community’s wellbeing.”
While Council grants have traditionally been available only to not-for-profit and community groups, the new Commercial Waste Management Grant gives businesses in the municipality a chance to secure Council funding too.
With up to $5,000 available, the grant is designed to help businesses implement responsible waste management practises such as recycling or waste reduction projects.
“Maximizing resource efficiency and reducing waste are key priorities for Council as an organisation and for our wider community,” Cr Milne said.
“This grant is a way of encouraging and supporting local businesses in their efforts to do the same.”
Full details about all Council grants, including eligibility criteria, application guidelines and grant opening closing dates are available on Council’s website www.mildura.vic.gov.au/grants or by calling Council on (03) 5018 8100.
