Mildura Rural City Council has announced an upgrade to the play equipment at the hugely popular Park for Play on Eleventh Street.  The gated playground, which includes all-abilities play equipment, has been a family favourite for over 10 years.

Acting General Manager Development Mike Mooney said the upgrades would see most of the equipment at the Eleventh Street end of the playground replaced and new rubber matting installed.

“We will be installing a new jungle gym with slides, a spider-web style netted climbing wall and some smaller spinning and bouncing equipment,” Mr Mooney explained. “The current equipment is more than 10 years old and is starting to have some structural issues so needs to be replaced.

“Park for Play is really popular with families and people often hold birthday parties and family get togethers in the park.  We want to let people know as soon as possible about the work that will be happening on site so they can make other arrangements if necessary.”

Removal of the old equipment is scheduled to begin in early October and part of the playground will be fenced off during the work, which is estimated to take 6 – 8 weeks to complete.

Council will be installing signage on site in the coming weeks to advise people of the work.
