One of Australian’s international pianists, David Fung is coming to Mildura to perform with Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, with musicians hosting a master class during their visit.

David Fung will perform Mozart’s Piano with Melbourne Chamber Orchestra on Friday 5 August at Mildura Arts Centre.

Praised for his "superstar qualities" (Le Libre), David Fung has performed with the major orchestras of the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia and has appeared at the world's foremost festivals and concert venues with repertoire spanning from Mozart to Tan Dun.

David Fung recently debuted with the Cleveland Orchestra performing Mozart at the Cleveland Festival. Few Australian musicians have achieved an international career like David Fung, whose performances of Mozart’s piano concerti have earned significant international praise. Now based in New York, Fung is a laureate of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth competition in Brussels and the Artur Rubinstein competition in Tel Aviv, and performs for celebrated orchestras and festivals across the globe.

Arts and Culture Portfolio Councillor Jill Joslyn said she was thrilled that the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra (MCO) are coming back to Mildura to perform with internationally acclaimed pianist David Fung to perform several Mozart Concerti.

“David’s performance of Mozart’s piano concert will be highly moving, and it will be fabulous to have a chamber orchestra perform alongside him in the theatre” said Cr Joslyn.

Performers will also give a workshop on Saturday morning for emerging local string musicians.

“Our community is very fortunate to have world class musicians coming to our city and performing at Mildura Arts Centre.  It is wonderful that performers willing to share their experiences, expertise and professional tips with our local musicians.”

David joins MCO to perform two of Mozart’s most beautiful piano concerti alongside the ebullient Symphony No 29 and the majestic Serenata Notturna. The performance is directed by William Hennessey, Australia’s leading violinist and music educators, he has been the Artistic Director with MCO since 2006.
