Internationally renowned Sunraysia dancer Eleanor Freeman is returning to Mildura Arts Centre this Friday for the first of this year’s In Conversation events.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said Sunraysia audiences will hear Eleanor’s story of a local girl who rose to international recognition on the stage of dance.

Cr Modica said the event promises to be full of touching stories, laughter and reflection.

“Eleanor was born in Melbourne, but grew up in Mildura. She began her dance training with The Mildura Ballet and Dance Guild before moving to Melbourne at 16 to continue her studies full-time at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School,” he said.

“Upon graduation she received the Anne Woolliams Award for the top senior dance student, which helped set her on the path to dancing success.”

Eleanor was soon accepted into the Queensland Ballet Professional Year program where she received the George Hartnett Award and was awarded her Solo Seal by the Royal Academy of Dance.

She then joined Queensland Ballet Company as a Trainee Dancer in January 2011 and was promoted to Company Dancer in 2012.

In August of 2016, Eleanor left Australia to join the Ballett der Staatsoper Hannover in Germany as a Soloist Dancer.

Mildura Arts Centre’s In Conversation events provide a chance for Sunraysia residents to hear first-hand accounts of the experiences of people who’ve succeeded in the arts, all in an intimate and personal setting.

People wishing to attend this Friday’s free In Conversation event are encouraged to arrive at 6pm and to be seated by 6.30pm. For further details about this event please visit www.milduraartscentre.com.au/Whats-On/Events/In-Conversation-with-Eleanor-Freeman.aspx.
