Sunraysia residents have a powerful opportunity to shape the future of the municipality in which they live by having their say on Mildura Rural City Council's 2017 - 2021 Council Plan.

The Council Plan is the organisation's most important document and is developed every four years by each new Council to help meet the needs and expectations of the community.

It sets out Council's vision, priorities, strategic direction and provision of services for the coming term and underpins everything Council does.

A vital component of each plan is input from the community to ensure Council's vision for the future is in line with the community's.

"This is an important opportunity for us as Councillors, and Council as an organisation, to hear what the community's needs are, and the direction residents think we should be taking," Mildura Mayor Cr Glenn Milne said.

"It influences everything we do, setting out priorities for areas including community safety, health and well-being, land use, our economy and the way Council interacts with residents, among a raft of topics."

Other areas residents can have a say on include the region's road network, parks, recreation services, natural environment, business and tourism.

Residents have several ways to provide input into the plan.

Community input will be reviewed by senior management and Councillors and developed into the draft plan.

The Draft Council Plan 2017 - 2021 will be available for the public to view from Saturday, 6 May until 5pm on Friday, 2 June this year.  The plan will be finalised by 30 June.
