Sunraysia residents who may be affected have the opportunity to comment on proposed changes to the way properties can be developed in Deakin Avenue and parts of Sixteenth Street.

Amendment C95 relates to land fronting the length of Deakin Avenue, while Amendment C100 addresses residential land on the southern side of Sixteenth Street between Deakin and Riverside Avenues respectively. Amendment C100 also applies to a parcel of Council-owned land on Deakin Avenue.

Measures to maintain a high quality image of Deakin Avenue as Mildura’s premier boulevard, including changes to the Avenue’s design and development overlays, are among the main actions in Amendment C95. These actions are derived from the Deakin Avenue Urban Design Guidelines 2016.

Amendment C100 aims to apply a new design and development overlay to ensure new development responds to the long term vision which defines Sixteenth Street as a Greenway, including a prioritised pedestrian and cycling path, arising from key plans and strategies including the Mildura South Development Plan 2014.

Both amendments are on public exhibition and open for submissions until 18 December. They can be accessed via Council’s website on the Have Your Say page.

Councillor for Economic Development and Tourism Simon Clemence urged residents and landowners to take advantage of the chance to provide input into both amendments.

“If you think you may be affected by these amendments, now is the time to sit down and examine them and provide a written submission to ensure your views are considered,” Cr Clemence said.

Written submissions will be accepted until Monday, 18 December and should be addressed to:
