Sunraysia residents are being asked for their thoughts on the future use of land in Fifteenth Street between Mildura and Irymple at a community information evening this Wednesday, 18 October.

Council is in the process of reviewing the rules that guide development of land in the area referred to as the Special Use Zone – along Fifteenth Street, between Benetook and Sandilong Avenues.

At present there are two zones in this area:

  • Special Use Zone 9 between Benetook and Cowra Avenues, which has a business focus
  • Special Use Zone 8 between Cowra and Sandilong Avenues, which allows a range of community and recreational uses.

As part of this review, we’re keen to hear the community’s views on what type of development they believe should take place along this strip, and whether the existing two zones are appropriate.

Councillor for Economic Development and Tourism Mark Eckel encouraged residents to attend this week’s information evening, which will be at Henderson College Library from 5.30pm to 7pm.

“This week’s information evening will be a chance for residents to not only provide their thoughts on how this area should develop into the future, but to also have any questions they have about this area answered,” Cr Eckel said.

“This event will be of particular value to landowners within these two zones, as any review could directly impact on future development of their land, so I’d encourage these residents to come along.

“It will also be of interest to the general community as this area also serves as a gateway to Mildura for traffic entering the district from Melbourne and towns and cities along the Calder Highway.
