If you manage a project that helps people with disabilities, provides recreation opportunities or helps people interested in the arts, thousands of dollars in support will soon be available as part of Council’s Community Grants program.

Applications for our latest round of Community Grants open early next month in the following areas:

  • Recreation Development (up to $1000)
  • Facilities Upgrade (up to $6000)
  • Rural Access (up to $3000)
  • Arts Development (up $2000)

An information evening explaining everything from how to apply through to which category would suit your project will be held on Tuesday 30 January at Council’s Deakin Avenue Committee Room starting at 5.30pm with light refreshments provided.

This event will include opportunities to speak directly to Council staff who manage each of the specific grant areas.

The Community Grants program helps local not-for-profit organisations and clubs achieve outcomes in line with the objectives of our Council and Community Plan 2017 – 2021, whilst improving outcomes for users of the clubs and services provided by groups.

Mildura Mayor Mark Eckel encouraged groups and individuals to come along to this month’s information evening, stressing it’s also vital for groups to consider their longer term plans.

“I would advise organisers to consider their succession planning and make sure they are inclusive of new committee members for the future sustainability of their project,” Cr Eckel said.

“We are fortunate to have so many fantastic groups and individuals in our region who work tirelessly to create and provide facilities, activities and opportunities for our community.

"These groups and individuals donate countless hours of their own time and money to keep these projects going.

“Our grants program allows us to play a role in partnering with these groups to ensure these valuable projects can continue.”

This month’s information evening will precede the opening of applications for grants on 5 February. Applications will be taken until 19 March at 4pm.

Event organisers are reminded that applications are still open for Council’s Events Funding and Support Grants Scheme, with individual grants of up to $50,000 available. Applications close on 2 March this year.

Any new applicants are encouraged to contact our Events Team directly at events@mildura.vic.gov.au or 03 5018 8100 to set up a one-on-one appointment for information about where their event will best fit in with the tiered funding model.
