Sunraysia residents keen to ensure their children can enjoy the water as safely as possible this summer are encouraged to sign up to the 2018 VICSWIM Summer Kidz Program.

The low-cost education program focuses on teaching children how to swim and general water safety skills, all delivered by qualified instructors.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Recreation and Sport Mark Eckel said the program would be offered at Council’s Merbein, Red Cliffs, Colignan, Irymple and Ouyen swimming pools throughout January 2018.

“This is a fantastic program that has been running since 1976 and caters for all swimming abilities – from first-time swimmers to confident lap swimmers,” Cr Eckel said.

“With the numerous rivers, lakes, backyard pools and public swimming pools readily available across our district, it’s important children learn basic water safety to ensure they maximise their enjoyment around the water while remaining as safe as possible.”

This year’s program, which includes the Ouyen Swimming Pool for the first time in several years, will be offered over the following dates and locations:

Week 1

Tuesday 2 January – Friday 5 January

Merbein Swimming Pool

Week 2

Monday 8 January – Friday 12 January

Red Cliffs Swimming Pool

Week 3

Monday 15 January – 19 January

Colignan, Irymple and Ouyen Swimming Pools

The VICSWIM Summer Kidz Program is $30 per week, plus standard pool entry, which provides access to lessons by qualified swimming instructors throughout the four to five day program.

People can enrol for one or more weeks across all venues.
