We made the first steps towards some exciting developments for our education sector earlier this week during ‘long-table’ discussions with Wuhan education institutions here in Wuhan China.

Wuhan is one of the most prestigious cities in middle China with a population of more than 12 million people and home to Wuhan Donghu University and Wuhan Institute of Technology, which boast combined student populations of about 40,000.

We signed a memorandum of understanding with Donghu University to develop a program for students that will be jointly delivered in China and Mildura, as well as an agreement with Wuhan Institute of Technology focused on accountancy and information technology.

These two agreements pave the way for what I believe could be a blueprint for future education pathways for our region, establishing what I would term ‘Study Mildura’, which could be the catalyst to drive growth of Mildura’s SuniTAFE and La Trobe University campuses.

This will further enhance the Mildura region, not just as an educational centre of excellence but as a recognised tourism destination.
