Celebrating its 40th year, Circus Oz explodes back onto the Mildura Arts Centre stage on Wednesday 2 May.

Audiences will see how Circus Oz daringly unpacks the myths of modern Australia in its latest high octane circus show Model Citizens, the first creation for the company by Artistic Director Rob Tannion.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said Model Citizens is not to be missed, describing it as high energy entertainment from beginning to end.

“Audiences will love Model Citizens because it is innovative, adventurous and simply an awe-inspiring physical circus. Children and adults alike will love the thrill of this exciting circus show,” Cr Modica said.

Skillfully choreographed, Model Citizens uses over-sized, everyday objects as unexpected circus equipment to create an intriguing new playground for the all-human ensemble.

Acrobats will back-flip off a giant vertical clothes peg, become tangled in an over-sized cotton reel, balance on a house of over-sized collapsing cards and fly high in an enormous pair of aerial undies.

Model Citizens presents stunning group acrobatics with a twist and is a visually and emotionally charged journey by the multi-talented Circus Oz ensemble, exploring what it really means to be a model citizen in today’s ‘model kit’ society.

Last month, Circus Oz performers shared their circus mastery with students and staff at Nichols Point Primary School, ArtRageUs, Mildura Ballet and Dance Guild, KM Dance Co. and Irymple Secondary College. The workshops were a great success giving young locals an experience that was enriching and lots of fun.

This show promises lots of special moments and stand-out performances. Audiences are encouraged to buy their tickets early, grab their family and friends and get along to the show.
