If you have a passion for the arts and love interacting with the public, you could be the perfect person to become an Arts Ambassador for Mildura Arts Centre (MAC).

MAC’s new volunteer Arts Ambassador program is designed to involve community members in promoting the arts as well as the region’s culture and heritage at numerous MAC events throughout the year.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said the program was a unique opportunity for residents with an interest in arts and culture to become involved in a very active way with MAC.

“Our Mildura Arts Centre is a fantastic venue, but it’s so much more than simply a venue. It’s a centre for the performing and visual arts and is host to an ever increasing number of performances and exhibitions each year,” Cr Modica said.

“By becoming an Arts Ambassador you’ll play an integral role in promoting access to this diverse range of arts and cultural experiences at MAC.

“So if you’re an outgoing person who not only enjoys interacting with a diverse range of people, but has a passion for the arts, get in contact with MAC to see how you can become involved.”

Cr Modica said that by promoting the many arts and cultural events throughout the year, the Arts Ambassadors program would ultimately create greater engagement between the community and MAC.

Arts Ambassadors will be provided with an induction course that balances training with information about art history and the techniques used by artists.

They’ll also be provided with insights into the workings of a regional art gallery, historic house and performing arts theatre.
