April School Holiday Program packed with activities for all ages

Published on 20 March 2017

Whether it’s canoeing at King’s Billabong or the exhilaration of taking a sand toboggan down the Perry Sandhills, Mildura Rural City Council’s April School Holiday Program will have something for everyone.

Running from Monday, 3 April to Thursday, 13 April, this year’s April School Holiday Program features several new activities as well as the return of many favourites.

Targeted at young people aged 12 to 16, the diverse range of activities on offer, which are either free or low cost, are designed to be both enjoyable and exciting, catering for a wide range of interests.

New activities this year include canoeing at King’s Billabong and a Geocaching Treasure Hunt.

Regular favourites which will be making a return include a Fishing Day, Laserforce, a movie and pizza day, Inflatable World at Lifestyle Plus, MasterChef Challenge and many more.

Based at the Mildura Scout Hall at 39 Twelfth Street, next month’s activities are funded by Council and the Victorian Government’s Engage Program, which aims to provide opportunities for young people to participate in activities that build their skills, knowledge and pathways, as well as developing support networks with families, peers and the community.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Ali Cupper urged young people in the region to take advantage of the diverse range of activities on offer next month.

“Much more than simply providing something for our young people to do, our April School Holiday Program provides opportunities for young people to develop both their social and practical skills – but importantly – have a whole lot of fun at the same time,” Cr Cupper said.

Most activities include lunch and morning tea.

Registrations are now open and close at 5pm on Friday, 31 March.

Activity flyers and registration forms are available by emailing youthservices@mildura.vic.gov.au, phoning Council’s Customer Service line on (03) 5018 8100 or visiting www.mildura.vic.gov.au/youth.
