Family Day Care

Family Day Care is a home-based early childhood education and care service for children aged six weeks to 13-years - or until they begin secondary school. It provides children with care while parents are working, training or taking a break. Educators are self-employed and are selected carefully by the Mildura Family Day Care Coordination Unit to provide the highest quality care. The Coordination Unit is responsible for recruiting, screening, training and providing ongoing support for Family Day Care Educators. Educators have individual fee schedules that vary depending on hours of care and family requirements. Evening, overnight, weekend and public holiday care may be arranged depending on the specific Educator’s working schedule. As well as traditional work related care, Family Day Care may be able to offer care outside normal working hours to cover overnight, evenings, weekends, public holidays and shift workers.

Mildura Family Day Care is approved under the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011. Family Day Care has been assessed by the Department of Education and has successfully met the requirements of the National Quality Standards.

There are currently 22 registered Educators caring for over 256 children in the Mildura local government area and Wentworth Shire.

Council is currently recruiting for more Educators and there is the possibility of acquiring a start-up grant to assist with costs. Please contact Council if you think this could be the job for you.
