St Kilda Film Festival-Short Films Tour
Friday, June 14, 2013
7:00 AM
The St Kilda Film Festival Tour prepares to kick off and is heading to Mildura. Travelling through a host of regional destinations, the Tour presents the highlights of the Festival at special screening events across the country. Festival Director Paul Harris says, “The awesome shorts chosen for our Tour showcase offer audiences the opportunity to view some of the most innovative, cutting edge, inspiring and just plain entertaining work from Australia’s current crop of emerging filmmakers, who are literally taking the world by storm.”
The St Kilda Film Festival recognises that people outside of capital cities do not often have access to short films, particularly those of such high quality as those screened on the Tour. The Tour takes these films to destinations far and wide, and encourages filmmakers in these areas to enter their films into the Festival in future years. It’s about giving a broad audience the opportunity to watch, discuss and create short films, maximising screening opportunities for the top films and filmmakers from the Festival and helping audiences in remote locations to access diverse screen culture.

Tuesday, June 25, 2013 Possum Magic written by Mem Fox. Presented by Mildura Arts Centre and Garry Ginivin Productions. Possum Magic is coming to Mildura as part of their Final Farewell Tour; it is one of the highlights of children's theatre at Mildura Arts Centre this season. Grandma Poss made bush magic. She made Wombats blue, Kookaburras pink, Dingos smile and Emus shrink, but the best magic of all was the 'Possum Magic', that made Baby Hush invisible. First published in 1983 Possum Magic was an instant success with children and parents alike. In 1990 the musical stage adaption had its world premiere, which was sold out before it opened. Since then Possum Magic-The Musical is now firmly established as the most successful musical for children and families ever. 2013 will mark the 30th Anniversary of publication and over 20 years on stage. Times: 9.30am, 11.30am & 1.30pm. Tickets all $8.00.

Hello Kitty Flanagan
Friday, June 28, 2013
8:00 PM
Presented by A-List Entertainment at Mildura Arts Centre. Kitty debuts at Mildura Arts Centre with her highly anticipated new show "Hello Kitty Flanagan". She answers all the difficult questions: What's wrong with teenagers? Why are babies so angry? What snack foods should be avoided when dating? Should cabaret be outlawed? When did rappers start hating on ladies? Is it okay to take hot beverages into the dunny can? Is dunny can an acceptable term for toilet? What makes ham so delicious? Which religion is best for me? And of course, are all women who own cats mental? "Hello Kitty Flanagan" delivers more funny stories, more physical comedy and more funny songs thanks to the return of Kitty's favourite musical guest, Sister Penny Flanagan. (NB. Sister Flanagan is not a nun, she's actually Kitty's sister). Media Quotes: "If you've seen Flanagan on The 7pm Project and Good News Week you'll have an idea of what to expect but she's even better - faster - live". The Independent Weekly. Tickets: Adult $40.00 and Concession $38.00.

Mildura Country Music Festival
Friday, September 27, 2013
to Sunday, October 06, 2013
When Australian country music fans talk about the festival ‘biggies’ the Mildura Country Music Festival rates a mention alongside Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Gympie Muster as one of the big three. The major difference between the other two and the 26th annual Mildura Country Music Festival is Australia’s biggest showcase of Independent entertainers. What that means is a seemingly unending cast of highly talented professional country music artists who aren’t signed to major record label deals.
The Independent factor gives Mildura a very different complexion, and it’s a successful formula that has worked admirably over the past 25 years. In 2012, more than 100 individual artists and groups will entertain over the 10-day period and the roster comprises many award winners including Golden Guitar finalists and Star Maker winners.

Palimpsest 9
Friday, October 04, 2013
to Monday, October 07, 2013
Mildura Palimpsest is a biennial visual arts event that invites artists to engage with the culturral and natural environment of the Mildura and Murray Darling region. Mildura Palimpsest is dedicated to high quality, critically engaged contemporary art in all forms. We aim to provide opportunities for real dialogue between local, national and international artisits, and across disciplines. Palimpsest, a parchment which has been partly erased and re-inscribed, evokes the marks made by human settlement on the land, the passage of time, presence and absence, and the web of inter-dependence connecting the natural and the cultural, the material and the immaterial. Mildura is a powerful location with a formidable history of engagement with the arts. Located near the junction of Australia's mighty Murray and Darling Rivers and the border of three state boundaries, ancient songlines stretch across the desert, rivers and lagoons and inland to Lake Mungo World Heritage site. There is a raw confrontation between the past and the future, nature and culture embodied in this unique location. The past is not buried here but sketched across the surface of the earth where the future is in progress.
