Pete the Sheep
Monday, September 01, 2014
to Tuesday, September 02, 2014
Pete the Sheep presented by Mildura Arts Centre and Monkey Baa Theatre Company is a brand-new 50-minute musical, based on Jackie French and Bruce Whatley's quirky and quintessentially Australian picture book. Shaun is the new sheep shearer in Shaggy Gully. Since shearing is such hard work, all the other shearers have sheep dogs to help them, but not Shaun. His partner is Pete, a sheep-sheep! The other shearers in the shed are not happy with Shaun and his shee-sheep. Following rejection by the shearers and their dogs, Shaun and Pete set up their own Shearing Salon in town where they are inundated with woolly clients, who delight in Shaun's styling prowess. This hilarious musical comedy, imaginatively told by four performers playing shearers, dogs and sheep, explores the challenges and rewards of being an individual, and will be a lasting tribute to honouring your own spirit and strength, whilst working with the flock! From the award winning company that brought you The Bugalugs Bum Thief, Milli Jack and the Dancing Cat and Emily Eyefinger. All tickets $10.00. Food
Saturday, September 06, 2014 Co-produced by Force Majeure and Belvoir. By Steve Rodgers, Directed by Kate Champion and Steve Rodgers. On a stretch of Australian highway, two sisters run their family takeaway joint. Chiko Rolls and reminiscing are on the menu. While they quietly wage war with their past and dream up a brighter future, a young life-loving Turkish traveller arrives with a charm and sensuality that turns their world around. Their dreams become reality when they transform their rundown fast-food stop into a restaurant showcasing Elma's gift for comfort cooking. Audience members become restaurant guests as the sisters serve up Elmer's hearty minestrone soup, sourdough and local wines. Kate Champion's Force Majeure is a ground-breaker in dance theatre and Belvoir is one of Australia's great theatre companies. Food is a feast for the senses with an erotic mix of words and movement that will spice and stir in equal parts. Come and share a meal in the intimacy of Mildura Arts Centre. "A show that is a robust meal ... warm, substantial, and completely delicious. I recommend this play unreservedly'. (Australia Stage). Tickets: Full $35.00, Concession $30.00, Student $20.00. Mildura Country Music Festival
Friday, September 26, 2014
to Sunday, October 05, 2014
When Australian country music fans talk about the festival 'biggies' the Mildura Country Music Festival rates a mention alongside Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Gympie Music Muster as one of the big three. The major difference between the other two and the 28th annual Mildura Country Music Festival is Australia's biggest showcase of Independent entertainers. What that means is a seemingly unending cast of highly talented professional country music artists whho aren't signed to major record label deals. The Independent factor gives Mildura a very different complexion, and it's a successful formula that has worked admirably over the years. In 2014, more than 100 individual artists and groups will entertain over the 10-days and the roster comprises many award winners including the Golden Guitar finalists and Star Maker winners.

to Saturday, October 18, 2014
The Mildura Show traditionally is an agricultural show that has been taking place in Mildura for 66 years. It came about shortly after WWII when returned servicemen, local business men and farmers cam together to create a community event when locals could meet to showcase their businesses, farm equipment and animals. Today the Show has developed into a family event incorporating aspects of the above, along with various competitions to emphasise all talents, opportunities for local community groups to participate and festival entertainment for children and adults alike. Having become known as the third largest Show in Victoria after Melbourne and Geelong. It's a fun and fantastic Show with all the goodies you would expect, Showbags, scary rides, live entertainment and of course big fireworks.
