Spectral Ecologies is an exhibition of new work by Sam Nightingale (UK) and Polly Stanton (AUS) that explores the image worlds of the Mallee through photography, sound and video.
Working through the tracks and traces of the route taken by an early traveling picture show and responding to the inherent image-making capacity of the landscape itself, Nightingale and Stanton creatively map and imagine the Mallee.
Bringing both cinema and the landscape of the Mallee together activates ‘spectral ecologies’ where social, environmental and technology factors combine to reveal and project images.
Spectral Ecologies includes a series of public events in Ouyen and Robinvale organised in partnership with the Ouyen District History and Genealogy Centre and Euston-Robinvale Historical Society, on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 April.
